Hizan Gençlerbirliğispor, competing in the Amateur League, hosted Adilcevaz Belediyespor on their home turf. While the match was ongoing with a 1-1 score, L.Y., a substitute player for Hizan Gençlerbirliğispor, was shown a red card in the 40th minute after allegedly hurling insults at the opposing team's players. Angered by the red card, the player allegedly entered the pitch with a knife he was carrying. After chasing an opposing player for a while, L.Y. was taken into custody by police teams.

ATTACKED THE PLAYERS

Following the incident, the management of Adilcevaz Belediyespor Club withdrew from the match, citing a lack of safety. In a statement regarding the events, Adilcevaz Belediyespor Club said, "While our team was playing away in Hizan and the score was 1-1, a player from the substitute bench was shown a red card and then attacked our players with a knife he pulled from his chest. Our team did not return to the pitch due to a lack of safety. Now we ask the public; how can the referee decide to continue this match after a knife attack? Is the referee impartial, or under whose pressure are they, or are they receiving directives from somewhere? How can a player enter the pitch with a knife? While not a single incident has occurred on our home field, what decision will the Bitlis Central Referee Committee make regarding this matter? Will they be able to issue a decision for a forfeit loss? We have the footage, and we will share it all. We will follow up on this matter; we are filing a complaint against the player who attacked the pitch with a knife for 'attempted murder' and we will follow up on the incident."

"I absolutely do not accept these slanders thrown at me"

Hizan Gençlerbirliğispor player L.Y. stated that he has been an amateur footballer for 13 years and said, "A very ugly slander has been cast upon me today in the Adilcevaz match. It is absolutely false and does not reflect the truth. Because of the red card I received, I walked toward the Adilcevaz player who caused it. It was just a moment of anger. I did not have any object in my hand that would harm or hurt the opposing player in any way. I am not ignorant enough to do such a thing. I have never done anything like this before. Their goal is entirely to create a perception. Thousands of people present there are witnesses. They already did not come out for the second half because they realized they could not win the match. I absolutely do not accept these slanders thrown at me. I have also initiated the necessary legal process regarding those who caused this."
