Kamil Ahmet Köse, Dean of the Istanbul University Faculty of Business Administration, who defended the validity of the diploma of CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu—who is currently held in Silivri Prison—has resigned from his post amid an ongoing investigation into the diploma.
While allegations surfaced that Köse faced pressure following his resignation, he indirectly confirmed these claims by stating, "I resigned due to the process that took place."

Prof. Dr. Levent Şahin, Vice Rector of Istanbul University, has been appointed as the acting Dean to fill the vacancy left by Köse. The following statement was made regarding the decision to appoint Şahin:
'It has been deemed appropriate for the resignation of Prof. Dr. Kamil Ahmet KÖSE, Dean of your University's Faculty of Business Administration, to be accepted and for the deanship to be carried out by your University's Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Levent ŞAHİN, for a period of 6 (six) months.
