Foreign Minister Fidan: War brings serious risks

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a press conference in Ankara with his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand.

Highlights from Fidan's statements are as follows:

"Today, I discussed our partnership in the defense industry with my counterpart. It is essential that the defense initiatives carried out by the EU are conducted with the contribution of all allies and without duplicating NATO's efforts.

Our shared concerns are also increasing in the context of the ongoing escalation in the Gulf. The war is spreading day by day. The ongoing war also brings serious risks with it.

As Turkey, we are conducting an intensive diplomatic effort. We hope that these diplomatic efforts will result in a lasting and just peace as soon as possible, in accordance with international law.

Israel's destructive agenda is spreading to the entire region. Lebanon must not be turned into a theater for a new war. Israel's ground operation is already having severe consequences for the civilian population."
