In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated, "We condemn the signing of a roadmap for the development of defense cooperation between the US and the GCA."
The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs included the following:
We condemn the signing of a roadmap for the development of defense cooperation between the US and the GCA.
We share the views expressed in the statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) regarding this matter, and we fully support the justified reaction put forward by the TRNC authorities.
These steps taken by US authorities, including the announcement last June that a strategic dialogue would be initiated with the GCA, are detrimental to the security of the Turkish Cypriot side, undermine the US's neutral stance toward the Island of Cyprus, and make it more difficult to find a fair, lasting, and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue.
In this context, we believe that policies that could harm regional stability should be reviewed.
As the Motherland and Guarantor state, Turkey will continue to ensure the security and well-being of the Turkish Cypriots under all circumstances.
