Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Keçeli issued a statement regarding the attack carried out in the Black Sea against a Turkish-operated commercial vessel.
Keçeli stated, "We view the attack carried out today in the Black Sea against the Sierra Leone-flagged, Turkish-operated tanker 'ALTURA', which was carrying crude oil, with great concern.
Necessary investigations and technical interventions are being conducted by our relevant institutions regarding the attack, and it has been learned that the 27 Turkish crew members on board are in good health.
This and similar attacks, which occurred within our Exclusive Economic Zone in the Black Sea and are contrary to international law, pose serious risks to life, property, navigation, and environmental safety in the region.
We are maintaining our contacts with the relevant parties to prevent the war from spreading to the Black Sea and escalating further.
In this regard, we also reserve our right to take necessary measures within the framework of international law to protect our country's economic interests and activities in the region," he added.
