A fire that broke out in a wooded area in the Akhisar district of Manisa spread rapidly due to the effect of the wind. As the flames and thick smoke reached the Izmir-Istanbul Highway, traffic in the area was temporarily halted for safety reasons.
According to the information obtained, the fire started at around 13:10 in the Evkafteke neighborhood of Akhisar. Following the report, the teams dispatched to the region made their first intervention to the fire at 13:20.
The extinguishing efforts, coordinated by the Izmir Regional Directorate of Forestry, involve 8 aircraft, 8 helicopters, 25 fire trucks, 5 water supply vehicles, and 2 bulldozers. Teams continue their aerial and ground interventions to bring the fire under control.
While the teams' work in the region continues to restore traffic on the highway, it was stated that the wind is having a significant impact on the course of the fire.
