Forest fire in Menderes, İzmir: Residents evacuated
Aerial and ground intervention is underway for a forest fire that broke out in the Menderes district of İzmir. The fire started around 1:00 PM in the Şaşal neighborhood of Menderes. Upon notification, teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the area. Efforts to combat the flames from the air and ground are ongoing. Meanwhile, according to the latest information, residents living in some houses have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

A fire broke out for an as-yet-undetermined reason in a forested area in the Karacadağ locality of İzmir.
Upon notification, 4 aircraft, 8 helicopters, 25 water tenders, 6 water supply vehicles, and 4 bulldozers belonging to the İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the region.
The Regional Directorate of Forestry reported that the fire started at 12:53 PM and the first intervention was carried out at 1:05 PM.
Teams are working to bring the fire under control with aerial and ground intervention.
RESIDENTS EVACUATED AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE
Meanwhile, as efforts to extinguish the forest fire in the Menderes district continue, it was stated that residents living in some houses in the rural Çamönü neighborhood, which the flames are approaching, have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The Ministry of National Defense announced that 3 Cougar-type helicopters and 2 CH-47-type helicopters belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces have been assigned to support the ongoing firefighting efforts in İzmir.

Menderes Mayor İlkay Çiçek, in a written statement, said the following:
"Intervention by teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry and fire department crews, with the support of our municipal teams, continues against the fire that broke out at noon and is affecting our Değirmendere, Çamönü, and Ataköy neighborhoods. I hope this disaster ends as soon as possible. Get well soon to all my fellow citizens."
