Forest fire on Heybeliada

A fire broke out in a wooded area on Heybeliada in the morning hours. The fire was brought under control with the help of firefighting teams and citizens.

A fire broke out around 05:00 in the Bayraktepe area of Heybeliada, Istanbul.

According to the information obtained, the fire, which is thought to have been caused by a cigarette butt, started in the wooded area in the morning hours. The fire grew in a short time. Citizens in the vicinity who saw the fire notified the fire department.

Upon notification, fire crews were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control by the firefighters who arrived at the scene.

Citizens also assisted the firefighting teams. While there were no deaths or injuries in the fire, the burned forest area was reduced to ashes. Teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
