As the summer season begins, forest fires breaking out in different regions of Turkey have become a major public concern, and Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ has made a striking statement. Sharing his views on the social media platform X, Özdağ said that forest fires have now become not just an environmental issue, but also a matter of national security.
"IT MAY BE A NEW TYPE OF ATTACK"
Stating that the fires breaking out simultaneously in various parts of the country are not a coincidence, Özdağ pointed out that this situation could be a "new form of attack." Özdağ stated, "There are many reasons to think that these fires are a new type of attack. The state likely already possesses information in this regard."
"EVERY SUMMER, THEY ARE LATE"
Continuing his criticism of the government, Ümit Özdağ said that the state remains unprepared for fires every summer. Emphasizing the lack of essential elements needed in firefighting, Özdağ said, "There is insufficient manpower, aircraft, and intelligence." He specifically noted that the inadequacy of the air fleet and ground crews causes the fires to grow.
"THIS SUMMER IS LOST, PREPARATION FOR NEXT SUMMER IS ESSENTIAL"
At the end of his post, stating that this year has been lost in terms of firefighting, Özdağ issued a call, saying, "Unfortunately, this year is lost. However, very comprehensive preparations must be made for next summer starting now."
