Forgotten in the EYT regulation! What will happen to those who lost 17 years due to 1 day?

In the EYT (Retirement Age Victims) regulation, citizens who had their insurance registration on or before September 8, 1999, lost 17-20 years due to a 1-day difference. Speaking to 12punto about the problems experienced, Aykut Uğurlu, a board member of the Association for Justice in Retirement (EMADDER), said, "While our peers and siblings are entitled to retirement at age 43, we are demanding a gradual system starting from age 43."

While those with insurance registration on or before September 8, 1999, were able to obtain retirement rights under the legal regulation regarding EYT (Retirement Age Victims), a 17-20 year waiting period was introduced for those whose insurance registration was just 1 day later.

This situation has sparked reactions as it leads to inequality and injustice.

Aykut Uğurlu, a board member of the Association for Justice in Retirement (EMADDER), explained the process and their demands to 12punto.

Uğurlu stated the following:

"While our siblings, peers, and contemporaries who had insurance registration before September 8, 1999, have become entitled to retirement today with the enactment of the EYT law, we are people who have been condemned to retire 17-20 years later, despite having more work premiums, simply because our start date was after September 8, 1999.

The purpose of the Association for Justice in Retirement (EMADDER) that we established is to voice this grievance, announce it to the public, and strive to end this injustice.

We continue to work extremely effectively and actively."

WHAT IS GRADUAL RETIREMENT?

With the enactment of the EYT (Retirement Age Victims) law, male employees at age 43 and female employees at age 38 can retire without an age requirement. While we advocate for gradual retirement, we want an age scale to be determined based on our insurance entry year.

While our peers and siblings are entitled to retirement at age 43, we are demanding a scale starting from age 43.

For those with insurance starting between September 9, 1999, and 2002, we demand age 43 for women and 45 for men (6,250 premium days requirement after September 9, 1999; 6,325 premium days for those with SGK entry in 2000; 6,400 premium days for 2001 entries; 6,400 premium days for 2002 entries),

For those with insurance starting in 2003, age 44 for women and 46 for men, and 6,550 premium days,

For those with insurance starting in 2004, age 45 for women and 47 for men, and 6,625 premium days,

For those with insurance starting in 2005, age 46 for women and 48 for men, and 6,700 premium days,

For those with insurance starting in 2006, age 47 for women and 49 for men, and 6,775 premium days,

For those with insurance starting in 2007, age 48 for women and 50 for men, and 6,850 premium days,

For those with insurance starting in 2008, age 49 for women and 51 for men, and 6,925 premium days,

For those with insurance starting in 2009 and later, we demand age 50 for women and 52 for men, and 7,000 premium days.

As I have stated in detail above, we want employees to be included in the system with an age and premium that increases every year. Of course, we also demand that those with SGK entry after 2008 be regulated in a way close to ours. There are truly huge gaps between peers. I am 47 years old, my premium days are over 7,000, my brother is 44 years old; I am his older brother both in age and in premiums, but he earns the right to retire. I have to work for another 13 years.

Those whose SGK entry is after September 8, 1999, have to wait until age 58 for women and 60 for men, even if they complete their premium days.

‘EVERYONE SEES THE GRIEVANCE’

For our 'Justice in Retirement' demands, we have united under the umbrella of EMADDER as those who want gradual retirement. We are trying to make our voices heard through rallies, press releases, and social media campaigns. We visit politicians and present our files.

Along with the entire public, the deputies who made the law also see this grievance we are experiencing, and they all acknowledge that there is a grievance here. As an association, we have gone to Ankara many times. We have made visits; we have met with nearly 200 of our deputies. We received support from most of them. 3 political parties (CHP, Democrat Party, and New Welfare Party) have submitted legislative proposals regarding our issue. There are also deputies who support us on social media, thank you to them. We are trying to find space in written and visual media. We hold press releases and rallies. We believe that the louder our voice, the more our demands will be met.

Currently, we are operating as EMADDER in 81 provinces across the country.

‘FOR LABOR PEACE AND TRANQUILITY’

We want gradual retirement to be implemented. This is our right. If gradual retirement is implemented, many grievances in this area will also be eliminated. We believe that gradual retirement is a system that covers all grievances...

There is a very serious grievance here. Being ignored and unheard hurts everyone's conscience. This must be prevented. Labor peace and labor tranquility must be restored."
