Former IYI Party Chair Akşener reacts to journalist İsmail Saymaz

In a post on her social media account, Akşener stated that İsmail Saymaz had violated journalistic ethics.

Recalling the remarks Saymaz made during a television program, in which he said, "I spoke with people I know to be closest to Meral Akşener. They said the purpose of her visit to Beştepe was to resolve a businessman's case at the Court of Cassation, and after explaining this, they ended by saying, 'What a waste of our efforts,'" Akşener stated, "The allegations directed at me in these statements by İsmail Saymaz are entirely untrue.

To this day, I have never made any request, open or covert, on behalf of any businessperson or any other individual regarding a matter that has been referred to the judiciary, and I will not do so in the future.

This untrue allegation by İsmail Saymaz casts suspicion not only on me but also on the independent Turkish courts and the President himself," she said.

Also referencing a post on İsmail Saymaz's social media account claiming, "Former IYI Party leader Meral Akşener has rented an office on the second floor of the building at 57 Cinnah Street in Çankaya, very close to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Moving began today," Akşener said, "This is an untrue post that creates information pollution on social media.

For those who are so curious about whether I have opened an office, I would like to clarify that I have not opened an office anywhere in Turkey for any purpose.

I do not have such a plan for the time being. If I make a decision in this direction at a later stage, I will personally ensure that it is shared with the public," she stated.

Emphasizing that these allegations are nothing more than gossip, far removed from a proper understanding of journalism, Akşener noted the following:

"Because of these statements, which are quite saddening for the reputation of the journalism profession, I invite İsmail Saymaz to act impartially, transparently, and honestly within the framework of the universal principles of journalism, and to report news with a serious, balanced, and responsible perspective.

I would also like it to be known on this occasion that I will be pursuing legal action regarding the issues I have expressed above as soon as possible.

In this regard, I request that this statement be published as a correction to prevent the further spread of gossip and misinformation about me, and so that our nation, which has been misinformed by this broadcast until now, may learn that the allegations put forward are untrue."
