Former Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer arrested in İzmir investigation
Following the arrest of 60 people—including CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu and former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya—out of 99 individuals referred to court with a request for arrest following prosecution statements as part of the 'corruption' operation in İzmir, former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer has also been arrested.

An operation was carried out on Tuesday, July 1, as part of the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.
Based on the Court of Accounts report, the civil inspector's report, and expert reports, detention warrants were issued for 157 people, including former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, and former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, on allegations of "rigging bids and performance of duties" and "qualified fraud."
The police procedures for the 137 people detained as part of the operations have been completed.
TUNÇ SOYER ARRESTED
As part of the 'corruption' operation in İzmir, a total of 60 people, including CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu and former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, were arrested out of 99 people referred to court with a request for arrest following their statements to the prosecutor. Former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, whose statement at the Criminal Court of Peace concluded, has been arrested.
His lawyer, Murat Aydın, made the following statement after the arrest decision:
"Mayor Tunç was arrested with a decision that is clearly unjust, unlawful, and politically motivated. He will enter prison with his head held high and will emerge with his head held just as high. But those who made this decision and those who ordered it will always live with the weight of this decision on their necks."
ARREST DECISION FOR 60 PEOPLE
While 1 person out of 119 referred to the courthouse was released by the prosecutor's office, 60 of the 118 people who appeared before the judge, including Tunç Soyer and Şenol Aslanoğlu, were arrested, while 58 people were released under judicial control.
58 PEOPLE RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ulaş Aydın, İZSU General Manager Gürkan Erdoğan, and Ertan Dikmen were released.
Eşrefpaşa Hospital Deputy Chief Physician Gaffar Karadoğan is also among those released.
CHP PROVINCIAL CHAIR ARRESTED
Among those arrested are former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya and CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu.
