Former minister and presidential candidate Sabahattin Çakmakoğlu passes away
Sabahattin Çakmakoğlu, a 23rd-term MHP Kayseri deputy, former Minister of National Defense, and presidential candidate, has passed away at the age of 93.

Sabahattin Çakmakoğlu, who served as a 23rd-term MHP Kayseri deputy, Minister of National Defense in 1995, and was a rival to Abdullah Gül in the 2007 presidential election, has passed away at the age of 93.
Çakmakoğlu's funeral will be held tomorrow in his hometown of Kayseri, where he will be laid to rest at the İncesu Family Cemetery.
WHO IS SABAHATTİN ÇAKMAKOĞLU?
Born on November 25, 1930, in the İncesu district of Kayseri, Sabahattin Çakmakoğlu graduated from the Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences in 1953.
Beginning his career as a civil administrator, Çakmakoğlu served as a district governor in places such as Kozaklı, Ürgüp, Bayburt, and Ereğli before being promoted to the position of governor.
Having served as governor in significant provinces such as Gümüşhane, Isparta, Edirne, and Gaziantep, Çakmakoğlu also held positions as Director General of Security, Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry, and Minister of Interior.
