Former Public Security Branch Manager arrested in Gülistan Doku investigation!

New developments have occurred in the investigation into the fate of Munzur University student Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli in 2020. The number of detainees has increased following operations targeting the police force in the investigation, which is being conducted under the coordination of the Erzurum and Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.

19 SUSPECTS DETAINED IN OPERATIONS

As part of the fourth phase of the investigation, simultaneous operations were carried out in 16 provinces on July 27. During the operations, 19 suspects, including police chiefs, police supervisors, chief inspectors, inspectors, police officers, computer operators, and retired police officers, were detained.

Following their processing by the gendarmerie, the suspects were referred to the Erzurum Courthouse, where one was released after giving a statement to the prosecutor. 13 people were arrested by the court, while judicial control measures were imposed on 5 suspects.

DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF CURRENTLY ON DUTY ALSO ARRESTED

Within the scope of the investigation, Ertuğrul Aslan, who served as the Tunceli Police Department's Public Security Branch Manager at the time Gülistan Doku went missing and is currently the Deputy Police Chief of Nevşehir, was also referred to the courthouse.

Following his processing at the prosecutor's office, Aslan was brought before the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest, and a detention order was issued against him.

NUMBER OF DETAINEES REACHES 28

With the arrest of Ertuğrul Aslan, the number of detainees in the investigation into the disappearance of Gülistan Doku has risen to 28. It was reported that the investigation, conducted under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, is continuing in line with new evidence, documents, and findings obtained.
