Former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel's testimony in the Doku investigation: 'I don't even know her, how would I know about her belongings?'
As the Gülistan Doku investigation continues with the detention and arrest of numerous high-level figures following information that emerged years later, new developments continue to unfold. Most recently, the testimony of the then-Tunceli Governor Sonel has come to light.

In his testimony, Tuncay Sonel stated that he had never seen Gülistan Doku and had never spoken to her in any way. He also stated that his son did not know Doku either and that there had been no communication between them.
According to the report on tv100, Sonel made the following statements in his testimony:
"I NEVER SAW GÜLİSTAN DOKU"
The Tunceli Governor said the following:
I have never seen Gülistan Doku, I do not know her.
My son does not know Gülistan Doku, he has not seen her, and there is no communication between them. If she were his girlfriend, if there were a relationship, it would have to appear in the base station records.
"REGARDING THE BASE STATION DATA: THAT IS A BUSY STREET"
Regarding the location where his son's phone pinged: That is a busy street, my son may have passed by there as well.
Regarding her conversations with Uğurcan after leaving the youth center on December 27, 2019, and whether he had any information regarding the secret witness's statement that Gülistan had been raped:
I may have spoken about an exam, a birthday, or another event. I have no information regarding the alleged rape incident.
Regarding the claim that items belonging to Gülistan Doku were destroyed to create the perception of suicide, and the finding that the prescription and handwritten note found at the dam were in the same area where Sonel was on the evening of January 5:
As I stated, I do not know Doku, so how would I know about her belongings? We would be on the move there in vehicles. There was no place there where one could stop with a vehicle.
