A magnitude 5.0 earthquake has occurred in the Kozan district of Adana. The tremor was also felt in surrounding provinces.

According to information received from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred at 20:07 with its epicenter in the Kozan district of Adana. As the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 20.13 kilometers, caused citizens to panic and take to the streets, it was also felt in the Adana city center and surrounding provinces.

Following the earthquake, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made statements on his X social media account. Yerlikaya used the following expressions in his statement:

A magnitude 5.0 earthquake has occurred in the Kozan district of Adana. It was also felt in surrounding provinces. All teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have immediately begun field surveys. As of now, there are no negative reports.

 

I extend my best wishes to our citizens affected by the earthquake.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR

Following the tremor, which was felt in Osmaniye, Gaziantep, and Kayseri as well as Adana, some citizens took to the streets.

Adana Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger stated, "There is currently no negative situation in our province; our surveys are ongoing."
