Fugitive convict who killed former CHP Kilis Mayor Ekrem Çetin and his son caught after 19 years

Lütfi Arslan (48), a convict who had been on the run for 19 years and 6 months after killing former Kilis Mayor Ekrem Çetin and his son Cahit Çetin in 2005, has been captured.

A fugitive convict who killed a former Kilis Mayor and his son has been caught after 19 years.

Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the İslahiye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, District Police Department teams apprehended Lütfi Arslan, one of the perpetrators in the murder of Ekrem Çetin and his son, at the residence where he was hiding.

Arslan, who has a finalized prison sentence of 25 years for "premeditated murder" and had been a fugitive for 19 years and 6 months, will be sent to prison following his processing at the District Police Department.

Former Kilis Mayor Ekrem Çetin and his son Cahit Çetin were killed in an armed attack while dining at a restaurant on June 3, 2005.
