Funeral arrangements for journalist Güneri Cıvaoğlu announced

Journalist and television presenter Güneri Cıvaoğlu has passed away at the age of 85 at the hospital where he was receiving treatment. Cıvaoğlu’s body was taken from the hospital to the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery mortuary.

A ceremony will be held for Güneri Cıvaoğlu on Thursday, October 3, at 11:00 AM in front of the Milliyet newspaper building. Following the funeral prayer to be held at Teşvikiye Mosque after the noon prayer, journalist Güneri Cıvaoğlu will be laid to rest at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.

WHO IS GÜNERİ CIVAOĞLU?

Born on July 30, 1939, in Ankara, Güneri Cıvaoğlu successfully served as a journalist, lawyer, news anchor, and television presenter.

Cıvaoğlu began his career while a student at the Ankara University Faculty of Law, stepping into journalism as a reporter for the magazine Akis and the newspaper Yeni İstanbul.

He was part of the team that prepared the morning news during the establishment process of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT). He studied economics for a time at the University of Strasbourg. He served as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Tercüman. He was among the partners of the newspaper Güneş and personally served as its editor-in-chief for a long time. He had been the chief columnist for the newspaper Milliyet since 1996. He anchored the main news bulletin on Kanal D. Cıvaoğlu, who presented the television program titled 'Durum' on the same channel, continued his career on other channels with the program 'Şeffaf Oda'.
