Funeral arrangements for Rüşdü Saracoğlu announced
Former Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Governor and Minister of State Dr. Rüşdü Saracoğlu has passed away at the age of 77 due to a heart condition. Saracoğlu's funeral will be held on May 25 following the noon prayer at Teşvikiye Mosque in Istanbul, after which he will be laid to rest at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.

Former CBRT Governor Rüşdü Saracoğlu has passed away at the age of 77 due to a heart condition. In a post shared on the CBRT's social media account, it was stated: "We have learned with sadness of the passing of Mr. Dr. Rüşdü Saracoğlu, who served as Governor of the Central Bank between 1987 and 1993. We wish him God's mercy and extend our condolences to his family and all his loved ones."
Saracoğlu's funeral will be held tomorrow following the noon prayer at Istanbul's Teşvikiye Mosque, and he will be laid to rest at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
WHO IS RÜŞDÜ SARAÇOĞLU?
The grandson of former Prime Minister Şükrü Saracoğlu, Rüşdü Saracoğlu was born in Ankara in 1948. After graduating from Ankara Atatürk High School, he completed his degree in the Department of Economics and Statistics at METU.
He received his doctorate from the University of Minnesota Department of Economics in 1980. He worked as a lecturer at the University of Minnesota and Boston College.
After serving as an economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Saracoğlu served as the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey between 1987 and 1993. In his active political life, he served as a member of parliament for the Motherland Party (ANAP) and held the position of Minister of State during the 53rd Government.
