A funeral ceremony was held at the Hacı Ömer Çetinsaya Mosque in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, for İlker Gönen, one of the defendants in the "Newborn Gang" case who died by suicide in the prison where he was being held in Antalya.
İlker Gönen's family members attended the funeral.
Family members wept as they embraced the coffin. Following the funeral prayer, the body was taken to the cemetery for burial.
İlker Gönen's lawyer, Aydın Mantar, said, "I will certainly make a statement. The initial findings point to suicide, but it is not really possible for us to say anything before we see the documents, see the file, and before the forensic medicine process is carried out. We will also be following the process."
