Former owner Berkin Kaya and Anahat Holding owner Selahattin Aydın have been arrested as part of an illegal betting investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into GAİN Medya AŞ. Kaya denied being a manager of illegal betting sites and rejected the allegations made in this regard. Aydın, on the other hand, emphasized that he had no connection to Kaya's past and argued that he only purchased the platform.
ILLEGAL BETTING CONNECTIONS
The investigation includes accusations that GAİN Medya AŞ was used for illegal betting operations under Law No. 7258. Kaya stated that he founded many companies in the early 2010s and later transferred them. Regarding questions about illegal betting sites, Kaya stated that he only followed the matches and that one of the suspects, Barbaros Reşat Gülcan, sent him a PDF titled "Sports Betting Presentation." Kaya dismissed this situation by saying, "We closed it, we didn't take action."
SECRET WITNESS ALLEGATIONS
The prosecution asked Kaya about the statements made by the secret witness "Gray" regarding Berkin Kaya, which claimed, "Kaya is the owner of illegal betting sites." Kaya rejected these allegations and argued that the account activities in Papara did not belong to him either.
Kaya also responded to the statements of famous presenter Okan Karacan, who claimed that Kaya had him film illegal betting advertisements. Kaya stated that he met Karacan during a film project in 2017-2018 and that Karacan was going through a rehabilitation process, which is why he did not accept the allegations of filming advertisements.
Kaya explained the source of the cash he obtained according to the MASAK analysis report as follows: "I cashed out the bitcoins I earned from my cryptocurrency wallet through a person via the ICQ chat application. The cash was delivered to me sometimes by motorcycle and sometimes by car. Since there was no cryptocurrency legislation, I did not think it was a crime." Kaya denied the points in the MASAK report that were against him.
In his statements regarding GAİN Medya, Berkin Kaya stated that he had a partnership for 7-8 months after purchasing the company in 2024, and that he offered a 50 percent share transfer to Selahattin Aydın before transferring the company to him. Kaya stated that he completed the sale of GAİN in February 2025.
2.9 BILLION TL MONEY INFLOW
According to the report by Habertürk Special News Chief Ceylan Sever, the prosecution determined that there was a money inflow of 2 billion 986 million TL into GAİN Medya AŞ from its establishment until August 2025. It was stated that 310 million TL of the amount deposited into Kaya's account was sent as cash and that the details of this are being examined within the scope of the investigation.
Berkin Kaya stated that he sent the large money transfers in question as capital payments and for TV series projects. Stating that purchasing the GAİN platform was a commercial mistake and that he lost money, Kaya said, "This investment was a mistake in itself."
Selahattin Aydın described the process of purchasing the GAİN platform and said that the company was valued at 60 million dollars, but he did not buy it because he thought this price was high. Aydın stated that the current value of the company is 1 billion dollars. He also stated that it was purchased for investment purposes and that the value of the platform has increased.
"I BOUGHT THE COMPANY, I DIDN'T CHECK ITS BACKGROUND"
Aydın stated that his relationship with Kaya was purely commercial, saying, "I don't have a long-standing friendship with Berkin Kaya, I just bought the platform. I didn't buy his background check." He also emphasized that the management of the company was entirely in his hands. Aydın also stated that the company's financing was provided from his own personal savings.
Aydın said that he accepted the account movements of Anahat Holding, but that these were entirely financed with money obtained from his personal savings. He stated that no external resources were used to finance the company. Aydın argued that they bought the platform at its value thanks to the successful work and agreements they carried out for the future of the company.
