Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek's comments on Murat Kurum: 'A chance for Istanbul'

AKP's IMM Mayoral Candidate Murat Kurum paid a visit to Galatasaray Club. Kurum was hosted by Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek.

Making statements at the press conference held, Dursun Özbek expressed that Murat Kurum's relationship with the yellow-red community dates back 7-8 years and that they worked in close cooperation during the February 6 earthquake disaster.

"OUR MEETING WITH THE MINISTER GOES BACK 7-8 YEARS"

Stating that AKP's IMM Mayoral Candidate Murat Kurum is a "chance for Istanbul," Özbek used the following expressions: 

"The minister has a significant personality who has served Turkey and has been in constant contact with Galatasaray and other clubs within the framework of his previous actions. Therefore, our meeting as Galatasaray with the minister goes back 7-8 years. We had a very close cooperation, especially during the earthquake disaster on February 6."

"HE PIONEERED OUR SERVICE"

"We were in the region from the first day of the earthquake, and the minister was there too. We consulted with him every day on what Galatasaray needed to do. He pioneered the service we provided there. We built a container city. Life is currently continuing there. He spoke about the importance of permanent housing due to the migration from the region, and we said we would undertake the construction of 300 houses and signed a protocol."

"A CHANCE FOR ISTANBUL"

"We are fulfilling the promises we made to our minister one by one. I know the minister's perspective on Istanbul very well. I have had the opportunity to talk about these with him many times. My personal opinion is that the minister is a chance for Istanbul, and I am extremely confident that he will carry out his activities specifically within the framework of Istanbul's needs."

Regarding this matter, I wish for the March 31 election day to be auspicious for Turkey and for Istanbul. I also wish my minister success."
