WHY DOES RAMADAN FALL ON DIFFERENT DATES EVERY YEAR?
Halit Çalış, a member of the High Board of Religious Affairs of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, reminded that the month of Ramadan is calculated according to the Hijri calendar and shared the following information:
"The month of Ramadan is one of the 12 months in the Hijri calendar. Since the Hijri calendar is 10-11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, the month of Ramadan begins 10-11 days earlier each year. For this reason, it lasts 29 days in some years and 30 days in others."
This year, the month of Ramadan will last 29 days, followed by the observance of Eid al-Fitr.
