Former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy and others accompanying him were arrested and sent to prison as part of a drug investigation.
Claims have emerged that the operation in question will expand and that a "highly influential" figure will soon be included in the operation. AKP member Şamil Tayyar made notable statements on the matter.
Tayyar stated, "There is someone facing allegations even more serious than all the allegations regarding M. Akif Ersoy, but no action has been taken against them. I don't know if their name will come out over time."
Tayyar noted that President Erdoğan gave instructions for the drug investigation to "touch whoever it may," and stated that the figure referred to as a "heavyweight" would also be included in the operation.
TESTIMONY RECORDS ENTERING THE FILE
Providing further information about the operation, Tayyar said, "Our President gave a blank check to pursue every kind of allegation. No one is untouchable."
Şamil Tayyar also gave clues about the identity of the "heavyweight" in question, stating, "The answer is in the secret witness testimony. Tomorrow, these testimony records will enter the file, and everyone will find out."
Following these developments, Buğra Gökce, President of the Istanbul Planning Agency, who is currently detained in the IMM case, described meeting Ersoy in prison.
Gökce stated that Ersoy's morale was low, saying, "He appeared to be in shock. He could only manage to say, 'I guess I'll be fine.'" Gökce said that Ersoy hugged a lawyer friend who came to see him afterward, and that everyone was affected when the lawyer began to cry.
