Ali Mahir Başarır names 5 journalists using vehicles with illegal flashing lights! Cem Küçük calls on Ali Yerlikaya

Media outlets close to the government alleged that Republican People's Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır had allocated a vehicle with flashing lights registered in his name to Mehmet Hazım Giray.

Reacting to the allegations against him, Başarır emphasized that he had not allocated his vehicle to anyone and noted that Giray does not have a criminal record, contrary to what was claimed in the pro-government media.

Speaking on Halk TV, Başarır said, "They are serving a picture of my car to the press by placing a fake driver's image in it. Why is this being done? You couldn't even find a shred of evidence to slander me, so you followed my car. Why is this being done? To interfere with the party."

In the continuation of his statement, Başarır named 5 journalists and asked whether they use vehicles with flashing lights. The journalists mentioned by Başarır are as follows:

Başarır used the following expressions in his statement:

“Numan Kurtulmuş, you are the Speaker of the Parliament. It is your duty to protect the honor and dignity of the Parliament. Intelligence is following a member of parliament, publishing their license plate and driver. The driver's name is fake. They are also publishing an intelligence report that wouldn't even be used in court. Do the journalists who criticize me—Ferhat Murat, Candaş Tolga Işık, Ahmet Hakan, Serkan Topel, and Hadi Özışık—use flashing lights? Tell us, police chief, Interior Minister?

Mehmet Ali Çelebi gave his Bentley with flashing lights. There are 300 license plates belonging to organized crime groups and businessmen's cars... They dragged my friend's name into this. Mehmet Hazım Giray has no criminal record. Interior Minister, if you have any shred of shame, you would resign.”

Following Başarır's claim regarding the vehicles with flashing lights, Cem Küçük, a columnist for Türkiye Gazetesi who is known for his proximity to the government, joined the debate. Addressing Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya from his column in the newspaper, Küçük stated the following:

“There are those who travel with known security details and vehicles with flashing lights. If a journalist is receiving threats, it is normal for them to have security. However, if there is no threat, that security detail should be withdrawn.

There is no justification for a vehicle with flashing lights. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya must cancel the use of vehicles with flashing lights and unnecessary security details. What privilege does a journalist have? What business does a journalist have with flashing lights when going to host a program or write an article for a newspaper?

We say everything to others. We must also criticize our own friends. I want to ask our friends who have vehicles with flashing lights: What business do you have with flashing lights? Why would you feel the need for such a thing?”
