Ayşenur Halil's family has appealed that decision, stating that even their daughter's phone was not unlocked and that the investigation was conducted in a superficial manner.
According to the report by Atakan Irmak from Sabah, the appeal petition submitted to the Istanbul Criminal Court of Peace by Attorney Betül Zağlı Topal, representing the complainant Yusuf Halil, emphasized that the investigation was incomplete and superficial, specifically noting that the mobile phone of Ayşenur Halil, who lost her life in the incident, was not unlocked and that critical digital evidence was not reached.
"THIRD PARTIES WERE NOT INVESTIGATED"
Ayşenur Halil's family, who appealed the decision, stated, "The investigation was conducted incompletely and superficially. The data on the killer's computer was deleted before the crime; he acted with a plan. Third parties were not investigated. His phone has still not been found," demanding that the decision to close the case be overturned and an effective investigation be conducted.
"EVIDENCE WAS NOT SUFFICIENTLY EXAMINED"
The appeal petition pointed out that the data on the suspect Semih Çelik's computer had been deleted prior to the crime, indicating that there were strong signs that the suspect had acted with a plan.
Furthermore, it was stated that Çelik had made phone calls on the day of the incident, but his phone was not found at the scene.
Another element highlighted in the petition is the lack of sufficient investigation into third parties who might be connected to the incident. It remains unclear who took the suspect's phone, whether the security camera footage from the scene was examined, and whether the evidence was supported by BTK (Information and Communication Technologies Authority) records.
The family emphasized that the failure to decrypt Ayşenur Halil's phone is also of key importance in terms of shedding light on the incident.
