Bad news for Bahçeli from a pro-government pollster! 'The lowest vote share in the last 25 years...'

Sonar Research President Hakan Bayrakçı evaluated the latest research prepared regarding political balances in Turkey.

As a guest on Bahar Feyzan's YouTube program, Bayrakçı shared important data regarding the second solution process called a "Turkey without terrorism," the attitudes of the MHP and AKP bases, the behavior of DEM Party voters, and the vote shares of the parties.

Bayrakçı said that public opinion regarding Devlet Bahçeli's statements during the process is clearly divided in two. He stated that the majority of those supporting these statements are DEM Party voters, followed by MHP and AKP voters, noting that this distribution shows that the data must be analyzed carefully.

THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT FINDING WHAT IT EXPECTED AMONG DEM PARTY VOTERS

Another prominent topic in the research was the preferences of DEM Party voters. While only 18.8 percent of voters who define themselves as DEM Party supporters stated that they could support the government in the next election, 49.4 percent stated that they would vote for the opposition. Bayrakçı summarized the situation by saying, "Even if this process was initiated by the MHP or the AK Party, there is no picture suggesting that DEM Party voters are shifting toward the government."

Public opinion regarding the release of Selahattin Demirtaş was also evaluated on the program. Bayrakçı reported that 45.3 percent of respondents answered "Yes" to this question, which he said could be read as a trend that transcends party lines. He also recalled that Demirtaş had adopted a strategy of being a "party of Turkey" in his past campaigns, adding, "Demirtaş's position is not the same as Öcalan's."

Asking the same question about Abdullah Öcalan yielded the exact opposite result. Bayrakçı announced that 77.9 percent of those in the study said "No, he should not be released," while those saying "Yes" remained at only 9.1 percent. He stated, "88 percent of Turkey is extremely sensitive about this issue."

MHP AT ITS LOWEST VOTE SHARE IN 25 YEARS

One of the most striking findings of the poll was the decline in the MHP's vote share. Stating that the MHP has fallen to a level not seen in years, Bayrakçı said, "We measured the party at 4.4 percent this month. It is the lowest level in the last 25 years."

He stated that this decline stems from the fact that MHP voters have not fully embraced the support given to the process.

Noting that the AKP base is approaching the issue more cautiously, Bayrakçı said that while the tendency to support the government is dominant, there is a loss of approximately 10 percent.

Responding to a question about Devlet Bahçeli's statement, "If no one goes, I will go," Bayrakçı stated that this attitude is part of a strategy of not backing down. Bayrakçı announced that 53.8 percent of participants said, "No, I do not think he committed the crime of espionage," while 24.7 percent answered "Yes." Stating that even a portion of AK Party voters do not find this allegation realistic, Bayrakçı said that the large number of lawsuits filed has reduced their credibility in the eyes of the voters.

Touching on the importance of a candidate's personal characteristics in local elections, Bayrakçı stated that 53.7 percent of voters look at candidate criteria, while the influence of the party has fallen to 14 percent. He stated that the CHP's vote share is hovering in the 35–36 percent range, the Zafer Party is at approximately 4 percent, and the Yeniden Refah Party is measured in the 2–2.5 percent band.
