MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli responded harshly to claims of a "crisis in the People's Alliance" during his speech at his party's parliamentary group meeting.
Bahçeli stated, "There is no incident between us and the AK Party, but a truth that tightly binds both sides. It is impossible for those whose minds and consciences are mortgaged to understand this."
For some time, there has been talk behind the scenes that disagreements, particularly with Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya regarding the decree on governors, have caused tension within the alliance.
Following Bahçeli's denial of the crisis claims, journalist İsmail Saymaz shared insider information he obtained regarding the future of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya in the Cabinet.
Speaking on Halk TV, Saymaz said the following:
"IT IS SAID THAT BAHÇELİ HAS CROSSED YERLİKAYA OUT"
"As far as I know, it is said that Mr. Bahçeli has crossed Ali Yerlikaya out. That is, due to the appointments and decisions made.
I have received various information that this issue has also been resolved recently. The decree on governors, which has not been issued due to MHP's reservations, may be released next week.
I have heard rumors that Ali Yerlikaya's ministry may also come to an end in a few weeks.
It is claimed that the strongest candidate is Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, and the second potential candidate is Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek."
