Behind the scenes of the attack on a father on the Marmaray revealed! 'The issue is not limited to what is seen in the footage'

New details have emerged regarding the assault on the Marmaray line in Istanbul that caused a major stir. While the father, Deniz E., who was beaten in front of his children, suffered a broken nose, one of the attackers has been arrested. The account provided by journalist Fuat Kozluklu regarding the moment of the incident has added a new dimension to the debate.

The incident occurred at the Marmaray Süreyyapaşa Station. According to the allegations, a passenger named Deniz E. got into an argument with a female passenger over giving up a seat while traveling on the train with his two children. As the incident escalated, E.D. (50), who was on the train, intervened in the argument and punched Deniz E. Shortly after, another passenger named I.A. became involved in the incident, and the tension turned into a brawl.

TERRIFYING MOMENTS CAUGHT ON CAMERA

After the train arrived at the station, the argument continued on the platform. During the tension, Deniz E.'s children were in a state of panic, while female passengers nearby tried to calm them down. Those moments were recorded by another passenger using a mobile phone camera.

Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Deniz E., who was injured in the face from the punches he received, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Examinations determined that his nose was broken.

ONE OF TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Following the incident, security forces took action. While one of the suspects, I.A., was detained at the scene, E.D. was later apprehended through subsequent efforts. After completing procedures at the police station, I.A. was released. However, E.D. was arrested by the court to which he was referred on charges of "intentional injury" and sent to prison.

CLAIM THAT THE INCIDENT IS "DIFFERENT FROM WHAT APPEARS"

Journalist Fuat Kozluklu, who witnessed the fight on the Marmaray, made an interesting claim. Explaining what happened before and after the incident, Kozluklu said that the events were not limited to the footage. Kozluklu stated the following: "As a matter of conscience, I would like to share my firsthand account of the incident that took place in front of me while I was traveling on the Marmaray yesterday afternoon, which turned into a fistfight. I did not think the matter would reach such a level of lynching.

"THE ISSUE IS NOT LIMITED TO WHAT IS SEEN IN THE FOOTAGE"

The issue is not limited to what is seen in the footage; I started recording a video with a journalist's reflex as it was turning into a fight. It is necessary to explain what happened beforehand. The gentleman, who boarded the Marmaray carriage with his two children, I believe from Erenköy or Bostancı, snapped at the young lady standing by the door and talking on her phone, saying, 'Why are you standing here? I am trying to enter with my children, they are struggling. What if they tripped and got stuck and fell?'"

"THERE WAS NO CROWD HINDERING PASSAGE"

The young girl replied, 'Excuse me,' and apologized. Yet, one could easily enter through the middle of the boarding door. I believe the in-carriage security cameras have recorded it. Since I travel by public transport constantly, I see this very often; unfortunately, there is always someone standing to the right or left of the door. Some do not move into the interior of the carriage because they will get off in a stop or two. Some of us do not want to get into the crowd. Or they are filming outside or taking photos during the journey. However, at the time this painful incident occurred, there was no crowd hindering the passage of the gentleman with the children.

"HE COMPLAINED FOR MINUTES, THE YOUNG LADY STARTED CRYING"

The gentleman with the broken nose continued to complain after boarding the carriage and the doors closed. This situation lasted for minutes. I think 5-6 minutes... The young lady standing at the door also started to cry. Passengers who saw this warned the man, saying, 'Enough, sir, be quiet, end the subject.'

Unfortunately, the man holding his children's hands did not stop; he continued to complain. Two people, who ended up as complainants in the incident, walked toward the man with words like, 'Enough already, man, why did you blow this out of proportion?' based on the situation of the crying young girl. I also opened my mobile phone camera and started recording.

"HE PUNCHED HIM AND GOT OFF THE CARRIAGE"

The person who was arrested told the father with the children to 'get out' as the Marmaray approached the stop, punched him, and got off the carriage. The Marmaray moved. The other young man also approached the man with the broken nose while complaining and pushed him. The parties got off at the Süreyya Plajı stop. Blood was streaming from the man's nose. Everyone was in shock. Marmaray private security personnel ran over. The man with the broken nose shouted that he was filing a complaint against the young man in the blue shirt who had verbally and physically intervened.

Then he ran after the young man, who was walking away while talking to his girlfriend, and punched him. Afterward, the Marmaray moved. My testimony is limited to this. My hope is that this unpleasant incident, in which both sides gave in to their anger and made mistakes, will be closed without escalating into different dimensions. Since I travel on public transport every day, I must say that we have problems with anger management."

As a matter of conscience, I would like to share my firsthand account of the incident that took place in front of me while I was traveling on the Marmaray yesterday afternoon, which turned into a fistfight. I did not think the matter would reach such a level of lynching.
