Sources from the Ministry of National Defense shared information regarding whether the administrative investigation and forensic medical report concerning the soldiers who lost their lives at the İskenderun Naval Recruit Training Regiment Command have been completed. The statement is as follows:
The process regarding our martyrs who lost their lives at the İskenderun Naval Recruit Training Regiment Command on July 25, 2025, has been conducted with great sensitivity, and the Administrative Investigation and Forensic Medicine reports have been completed.
In the report by the Council of Forensic Medicine, it was concluded that the deaths of our personnel who were martyred occurred as a result of 'an increase in body temperature due to prolonged exposure to the sun (hyperthermia) and its developing complications.' In this context, administrative and disciplinary proceedings are ongoing regarding personnel who are considered to have potential intent, fault, or negligence in the incident.
The judicial process regarding the matter is being conducted by the İskenderun Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. On this occasion, we once again wish for God's mercy upon our dear martyrs and extend our condolences and patience to their grieving families, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our noble nation.
Ministry officials responded to questions regarding the attacks carried out by Israel in Syria and most recently in Qatar. The statement is as follows:
The attacks carried out by Israel on Syrian territory and in Qatar are contrary to international law and are a clear attack on the sovereign rights of both countries. Such provocative actions escalate tension in the region and negatively affect peace efforts. The Turkish Armed Forces continue all their activities in Syria within the framework of international law and the right to legitimate self-defense. In this context, news and allegations that Israel has targeted Turkish Armed Forces assets in Syria are baseless and do not reflect the truth. There is no negative situation regarding our units, personnel, and equipment stationed in Syria.
It is of great importance to be careful and level-headed against fifth-column activities and perception operations, especially those carried out via social media in recent times. It is observed that some social media users are also becoming tools for these disinformation activities, whether consciously or unconsciously. Social media, which is becoming more uncontrolled every day, has the potential to become a national security issue in the future. For this reason, it is of great importance that our public relies only on statements made by official sources.
It has been revealed that Israel has made terrorism a state policy, feeds on conflict, and is against peace.
THE LATEST SITUATION IN SYRIA
Ministry officials also responded to questions regarding the latest situation in Syria and shared information about security and defense measures. The statement is as follows:
The Syrian Government continues its diligent efforts with all its institutions and units toward restructuring and establishing stability and security in the country.
In this context, we take into account the requests of the Syrian Government to clear the region of terrorism, primarily DAESH, in a way that will directly contribute to the peace and prosperity of the people, and we continue our work in coordination with Syria within this framework.
Following the signing of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Training and Consultancy” on August 13, 2025, efforts toward the restructuring of the Syrian Armed Forces have gained momentum.
In line with the requests of the Syrian government, training, visitation, consultancy, and technical support activities aimed at increasing defense and security capacity have been initiated. These activities are carried out in a planned manner and in coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Defense.
Syria's stability and security are of critical importance for the peace of the region. In this direction, Turkey is determined to continue its close cooperation with the Syrian government and to support the principle of “One State, One Army.”
