Breaking News: Flash candidacy statement from CHP leader Özgür Özel! 'If İmamoğlu cannot be a candidate...'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel is making evaluations regarding the agenda on a live broadcast on Sözcü TV.

Özlem Gürses reminded Özel of his statement in a recent interview with T24, "If İmamoğlu cannot be a candidate, we will look for the most suitable candidate," and asked, "Is this person you, Mansur Yavaş, or Dilek İmamoğlu?"

Stating clearly, "I am not a candidate," Özel used the following expressions:

"I am not a candidate. I aspire to give a thank-you speech as the chairman of the party that changed the government on election night. I have no other agenda beyond this."

Continuing his speech, Özel said, "If I cannot make the CHP the government, I will quit politics."

CHP'S PARTICIPATION IN THE COMMISSION

We joined the commission to save Turkey. The owner of this commission idea is the CHP. The CHP is a principled party; it said, 'If there is such an issue, come to the Parliament.' It is impossible for the main opposition party of the Parliament and the leading party of Turkey not to join a commission it proposed itself. If this commission does not work as the CHP proposed and envisioned, the CHP will re-evaluate whether to be in this commission or not. Either all parties should be represented equally, thus eliminating the monopoly of making decisions by themselves, or it should be done with a qualified majority.

This commission will not make laws; it will make recommendations.

TANJU ÖZCAN CROSSED THE LINE

Tanju crossed his own lines; the definition of 'alliance of evil' is not correct. He crossed his lines regarding the CHP's participation in the commission to be established in the Parliament. 

We held a large rally in Şile. Some social media accounts are posting, 'BOYCOTT TO ŞİLE, THE SQUARES WILL REMAIN EMPTY.' Well, that square will not remain empty.

CHP members always support it when 'solution' is mentioned and say, 'may the tears of mothers dry.' During the previous solution process, the CHP supported it, while Mr. Devlet was against it. Now, those who were against it in the previous period are in the solution process. I wish it could have been achieved back then. Thousands of people were massacred. Both Turkish and Kurdish mothers were left in tears. 

We look at it from this perspective: we want to do something not against terror, but against the minimum wage and development. What are these people talking about? This is a process that should be supported with sincerity. I do not find Erdoğan sincere on any issue. But this is a process that should be supported to the end.

'CHP WILL NOT SEND A DELEGATION TO İMRALI'

I visited Mr. Selahattin in September last year. Today, I will visit Figen Yüksekdağ. The CHP will not send a delegation to İmralı. What business do we have sending a delegation to an island? The Parliament is the highest authority. Everything is discussed in the Parliament founded by Atatürk.

STATEMENT ON KILIÇDAROĞLU

As for my bilateral dialogue with Mr. Kemal; in 9 years, I have never missed a party congress except for a relative's illness. Not the slightest negative dialogue has passed or could pass between Mr. Kemal and me; I would not show disrespect. If he comes to a place where I am, I will welcome him at the door and see him off at the door. 

THE CONGRESS CASE WILL EITHER BE DISMISSED OR POSTPONED

The talk of a 'dubious congress' is not something that will yield results. It is process-oriented and aimed at making the CHP a subject of debate. I have always said, 'nothing will happen,' friends. Now I am saying it very clearly. On the 15th, that court case will either be dismissed or postponed to a later date. No one who is not elected by the delegates can manage the CHP. I am a person of democracy within the party as well.
