I WANT TO BE TRIED
Özdağ, who was detained on allegations of insulting AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and was arrested on January 21 for "publicly inciting the people to hatred and enmity" due to past social media posts regarding the events in Kayseri, had stated: "Send my indictment to the court. I want to be tried. Didn't you arrest me to try me? Why are you delaying my trial now?"
WHAT HAD ÖZDAĞ SAID ABOUT ERDOĞAN?
Özdağ had used the following expressions regarding Erdoğan in Antalya:
"No Crusade has been able to make the Turkish nation Deist, Atheist, or Christian. During the Erdoğan era, large segments of the Turkish nation began to grow cold toward their religion because of those who deceive in the name of God, and during the Erdoğan era, the rate of deists and atheists exceeded 16 percent.
"Erdoğan is harming the faith of the Turkish nation by distributing the Turkish nation's state among sects and communities, and by making those who commit shirk partners in the state; he is destroying the culture of the Turkish nation by bringing millions of asylum seekers and illegal migrants into Anatolia. What is happening is actually an AKP fascism."
In a social media post following the news of the investigation, Özdağ had said, "I am ready to make this speech 1,000 more times."
