Busy week at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey... Age limit coming for civil servant recruitment!

The General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament will begin the week with elections to be held for the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK). Five new members will be elected from among 15 candidates determined by the Joint Committee on Constitution and Justice. The distribution of HSK memberships will be as follows:

Three members from the Court of Cassation,

One member from the Council of State,

One member will be determined from among faculty members serving in law schools or lawyers.

DECREE-LAW CHANGES ON THE AGENDA

Following the HSK elections, the General Assembly will discuss proposed changes to be made to Decree-Laws (KHK) that include authority changes regarding various ministries and institutions. The regulations aim to ensure compliance with current needs in public administration.

AGE LIMIT REGULATION FOR CIVIL SERVICE

One of the notable proposals in the General Assembly this week will be regarding the age limit for entry into civil service. Within the scope of the draft law prepared in line with the cancellation decisions of the Constitutional Court, it is envisaged that an age limit of 35 will be required for profession-specific competitive examinations conducted by public institutions, boards, supreme boards, and organizations established by Presidential decrees or special laws. This regulation aims to provide standardization in public recruitment.

According to the proposal, the President of the Court of Jurisdictional Disputes will also be elected from among the members of the Constitutional Court. With this method, it is planned to transition to a new practice in high-level appointments in the judiciary.

ALLOCATION OF REAL ESTATE TO TRT

One of the regulations to be discussed concerns TRT. The way will be paved for the free allocation of real estate belonging to public administrations and places under the jurisdiction and disposal of the state to the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) to be used in its duties and activities.

COMMITTEES WORKING INTENSIVELY

The Kartalkaya Hotel Fire Investigation Committee will hold a meeting with officials from the Bolu Governorship this week to examine the causes of the hotel fire, negligence, and the chain of responsibility. The comprehensive report to be prepared by the committee will be announced to the public.

The Artificial Intelligence Research Committee has also completed its work. The report created as a result of the investigations carried out for about a month will be presented to the Speaker of the Parliament this week. The report contains legal legislation proposals regarding artificial intelligence and recommendations on Turkey's digital strategy.

POLITICAL PARTIES TO MEET IN GROUP MEETINGS

Political parties with groups in the Parliament will also hold their group meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. Party leaders will take the podium to make evaluations regarding both the domestic and foreign policy agenda.
