However, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş's announcement that he would not participate in the primary has stirred political circles. This stance by Yavaş has brought the question "Will he be a candidate?" to the agenda.

Following these developments in the CHP, an important meeting took place recently.
Chairman Özgür Özel, IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş came together to evaluate the issue of candidacy.
Yavaş stated at the meeting that he would not participate in the primary but that he would respect the decisions to be made within the party.
Speaking to İsmail Saymaz from Halk TV, Ekrem İmamoğlu made notable statements regarding Yavaş's stance at the meeting. To Saymaz's question, "Did Mansur Yavaş utter a sentence like 'I am a candidate in any case'?", İmamoğlu gave the following response:
“He expressed his hesitations and concerns regarding the primary, but stated that he would respect the decision the party will make and the will that will emerge. He expressed that he would support the process on behalf of the country and the nation. We had a very positive and productive day. Let me underline that he expressed his concerns and his hesitations regarding it being determined early.”

Saymaz asked, "Well, did he use a sentence like 'I am a candidate in any case'?" to clarify Yavaş's stance on candidacy. İmamoğlu replied to this question by saying, "No, nothing like that was ever uttered."
On the other hand, regarding the question of whether there will be a single candidate in the CHP, İmamoğlu gave the following answer:
“Of course, of course. Under all circumstances, the identity of the CHP's candidate is clear.”
