Within the scope of the ongoing investigation, the question of how the fire started has also begun to clarify. It is alleged that before the fire, restaurant staff were preparing breakfast when hot oil splashing from a flat-top grill caught fire.
KITCHEN TEAM'S FATAL INTERVENTION
Seeing flames rising from the kitchen, chef Faysal Yaver and kitchen staff Yusuf Karahanlı, Fidan Kurç, and Mehmet Gündüz attempted to intervene in the fire.
Instead of using a fire extinguisher, they tried to put out the burning appliance with water. However, after the hot oil came into contact with the water, the flames grew even larger and spread around.
UNCLEANED HOOD BROUGHT THE TRAGEDY
It was noted that the flames jumped from the uncleaned hood to the chimney, and from there spread to the roof, engulfing the hotel in a short time.
