The AKP, which suffered a defeat in the March 31 Local Elections, has transferred exactly 56 mayors since the date of the election.
Most recently, at the AKP's 24th anniversary event, six CHP, two IYI Party, and one independent mayor joined the AKP.
Among these transfers, the most talked-about name was Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu.
While it is suggested in political circles that many CHP mayors will transfer to the AKP, some CHP figures have denied the transfer process with their statements.
It has been suggested that the AKP will continue its mayoral transfers. Journalist Mahir Kılıç claimed that 2 more CHP district municipalities will switch to the AKP.
