Commission meets with terrorist leader: What are the next stages in the second opening process?
In the second opening process, which the government defines as a "Terror-Free Turkey," a new threshold has been crossed with the commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) meeting with Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, in İmralı. It is claimed that in the subsequent stages of the process, comprehensive steps ranging from amnesty packages to constitutional amendments, and from regulations on the Kurdish language to the presidential system, will be brought to the agenda.

The second opening process, which began with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party deputies and which the government has named a "Terror-Free Turkey," continues with a commission established in the TBMM sending a delegation to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı.
Following the commission's meeting with the terrorist leader, public attention has turned to what will happen next in the process.
Veli Toprak from Sözcü listed the developments expected in the new stage of the process as follows:
-First, there is the "Right to Hope" and house arrest alternative for Apo, as well as amnesty and political freedom for the 3,500 terrorists in PKK camps and on the mountains, and for PKK members in prison.
-It is stated that the so-called leaders of the organization could go to countries such as Norway and Sweden during this process.
-With this regulation to be made, amnesty is envisioned only for militants of disbanded organizations. Thus, members of organizations such as DHKP-C, ISIS, and FETÖ will not be able to benefit from execution or amnesty regulations.
DEFINITION OF TURKISHNESS
-The definition in the Constitution, "Everyone who is bound to the Turkish state by the bond of citizenship is a Turk," is expected to change.
-Meanwhile, the issue of the Kurdish language is also on the agenda. Presidential Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum stated in his article on Sunday, "Kurdish will be strengthened and made permanent." Regulations in line with this will also be on the table.
-It is alleged that the PKK's extension in Syria will be included in the process and that a political platform will be prepared for its leaders.
-Another issue is paving the way for a permanent presidency for Erdoğan. The article on presidential elections will also be changed.
-It is being considered to lower the presidential election threshold from 50+1 to 40+1, which would also pave the way for Erdoğan to run for office again.
