Claims regarding the release of former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş have been brought to the agenda.
New developments are taking place regarding Demirtaş, who has been imprisoned in Edirne Prison for 9 years, following the violation ruling issued by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Nagehan Alçı brought a striking claim to the agenda in a post she made on her social media account.
Alçı stated, "I see it has been talked about since yesterday... According to information I received from sources I trust, Selahattin Demirtaş will be released this week..."
WHAT HAPPENED?
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) had issued a release decision regarding Demirtaş in July. The Ministry of Justice had appealed the ECHR's decision in October.
The ECHR had rejected the appeal. Following this, Demirtaş's lawyers applied to the regional administrative court where the Kobani file is located for his release.
Following MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's message that "His release will be beneficial for Turkey," President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also commented, "This country is a country of law; we will abide by whatever the judiciary says."
