Details of the indictment in the Baby Sıla case revealed: Mother destroyed evidence

Details of the indictment prepared regarding the death of two-year-old Baby Sıla, who lost her life on September 8, 2024, in the Malkara district of Tekirdağ, have been shared with the public. Turkey, shaken by the violence and sexual abuse Baby Sıla was subjected to, was once again horrified by the gruesome details contained in the indictment. The indictment states that the mother destroyed 'evidence' and that the baby died from a brain hemorrhage resulting from a blow to the head.

According to forensic medical reports, Baby Sıla lost her life due to a brain hemorrhage that developed as a result of a blow to her head. The report also included findings indicating that the baby had been subjected to violence and abuse multiple times previously.

The indictment states that the mother, Bakiye Yeniçeri, threw a bloody diaper—a crucial piece of evidence regarding the sexual abuse of the baby—into the trash, saying, "so that no one sees it." It was requested that mother Yeniçeri be tried for intentional homicide due to her negligent behavior and for leaving her daughter in a dangerous environment.

Mother Yeniçeri gave conflicting statements during the investigation process.

In her initial statement, she said she had left her children with her neighbor Kani A., and when she got them back, she saw blood on Sıla's diaper and covered it up so that no one would notice. However, in her subsequent statement to the prosecutor's office, she retracted her previous claims, stating that she had spoken that way because her mental state was poor.

The defendants Kani A. and Sanlı Ö. did not accept the charges.

While Kani A. argued that he did not harm the children in any way and that he had only recently met Bakiye Yeniçeri, Sanlı Ö. claimed that the accusations were baseless. Furthermore, he alleged that Bakiye's family was slandering him because he did not give her money.
