The Ministry of Trade has implemented the Electronic Advertisement Verification System (EİDS) to prevent fake advertisements and advertisement clutter. As of November 1, 2023, identity verification has been made mandatory for individuals wishing to post real estate and vehicle advertisements.
In the second phase of the system, authorization verification will be applied to real estate rental advertisements starting January 1, 2025. In the coming period, this requirement will also cover advertisements for real estate and vehicles for sale.
HOW WILL THE AUTHORIZATION VERIFICATION PROCESS WORK?
With the authorization verification phase of EİDS, the authority to post advertisements will be limited to the following individuals:
The owner of the real estate or vehicle
Their 1st and 2nd-degree relatives or spouses
AUTHORIZED REAL ESTATE OR DEALERSHIP BUSINESSES
Authorization processes can be carried out via E-Devlet (e-Government). This regulation covers the entire electronic environment, including advertisements posted on social media platforms.
FINES FOR FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM
Due to advertisement activities contrary to EİDS regulations, administrative fines have been imposed on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The Ministry has blocked access to 1,426 social media accounts identified as not complying with the regulations to date.
Stating that inspections will continue, officials announced that in addition to administrative sanctions, the authorization certificates of businesses that do not comply with the rules will be revoked.
BEWARE OF ADS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
The Ministry of Trade has warned citizens not to rely on real estate and vehicle advertisements published via social media. Businesses sharing advertisements from social media accounts were reminded that they must act in accordance with the rules to avoid facing account blocks and monetary fines.
