Ayşe Barım, who is being tried while detained in the Gezi Park case, faces a risk of sudden death due to heart and brain ailments. Her lawyers state that Barım has experienced significant weight loss in prison and argue that she should be released due to her health problems. On July 11, the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested a report to determine whether there was any obstacle to Barım remaining in prison. Subsequently, Barım's health condition, for which she was referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine on July 17, was supported by medical reports submitted to judicial authorities.

Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık was arrested as part of an Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) operation and continues to experience serious health problems in prison. Çalık had bone marrow extracted for the second time in prison due to suspected lymphoma and had experienced significant weight loss.
