"ONE OF OUR INDISPENSABLES"
Ahmet Selçuk İlkan, who attended the ceremony, expressed his sorrow by saying, "We lived in the same neighborhood in Moda for many years; beyond that, we accumulated memories on stages. There are some people in our lives for whom you cannot decide which words to use to describe them. I have always been honored and proud to have known him. Imagine a person who has found a place in the hearts of millions. One of our indispensables. We will miss him; we couldn't get enough of him. We will commemorate him with his beautiful songs and keep him alive forever. He was a very special person, a very naive person. He was one of the exemplary figures with his upright stance, capable of conveying even all the pain without breaking anyone."
"HE WILL LIVE ON FOREVER THROUGH HIS WORKS"
Ali Rıza Binboğa stated, "My condolences to all of Turkey. He never compromised his upright stance. My brother Edip was one of the soloists of the bard climate in Turkey. May God have mercy on him; he made many people happy. The throne he left behind will remain empty. Because he was a figure unique to himself. He will live on forever through his works."
WHO IS EDİP AKBAYRAM?
Known for dozens of songs that have found a place in the hearts of millions, primarily "Aldırma Gönül," "Eşkiya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz," and "Bekle Bizi İstanbul"; Edip Akbayram, the unique voice of Turkish music, known for his powerful interpretation, emotional songs, and humble personality, was born in Gaziantep in 1950. The artist contracted polio when he was just 9 months old. Akbayram's interest in music began at a young age; he both played and sang in the orchestra he founded while still a high school student. He released his first record, "Kendim Ettim, Kendim Buldum," during those years. The artist's story of reaching the summit developed as follows:
In 1968, he went to Istanbul to pursue his dreams. Three years later, he won first place in the Golden Microphone competition with "Kükredi Çimenler," which he composed inspired by a poem by Aşık Veysel. Afterward, he achieved high sales figures with songs such as "Aldırma Gönül," "Garip," and "Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz." In the 80s, he was banned from appearing on TRT. However, he made a comeback in the 90s and drew attention to social issues with his album "Türküler Yanmaz." In his own words, he wanted to do 'something permanent.' And so he did.
Reaching wide masses of people, the master artist signed his name to unforgettable songs with more than 20 albums and more than 15 singles. The gold record-winning artist won more than 250 awards in his career spanning over 50 years.
On the other hand, Edip Akbayram married Ayten Akbayram in 1979. The couple has two children named Türkü Akbayram and Ozan Akbayram.
