Food scandals continue! Horse and donkey meat detected
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its "List of Adulterated and Misbranded Foods," warning citizens against unsafe food products. Irregularities detected in cheese, red meat, and spice products have drawn attention.

In order to reduce costs, particularly in the food sector, producers may mix in imitations or adulterants. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry exposes these imitation and adulterated products on its website to protect public health and eliminate fraudulent products from the food sector.
While the Ministry's list mainly includes spices, red meat, and olive oil, the substances added to these products are truly stomach-churning for citizens. Most recently, products added to the Ministry's list of "Foods That Endanger Health" have drawn attention.
NATAMYCIN IN CHEESE, DONKEY MEAT IN LAHMACUN
Natamycin was detected in Cemalzade Sunflower Seed and Corn Seasoned Full-Fat Processed Cheese. At the same time, horse and donkey meat were detected in the filling of lahmacun at the "Bağ Konakları Cafe-Büfe" establishment in Sakarya. The buffet has been included on the Ministry's list twice.
Horse and donkey meat were detected in beef roast in Afyon and in products sold as red meat in Antalya. In Kahramanmaraş, a dye not permitted for use in food was detected in breakfast acuka.
Olive oil and kashar cheese topped the list of products included in the Ministry's list of imitation and adulterated foods. It was determined that seed oils were mixed into 6 olive oil brands. It was also learned that 4 brands producing kashar cheese had mixed vegetable oil into their products.
STARCH DETECTED
Vegetable oil and starch were detected in processed cheese, while mechanically separated poultry meat was detected in heat-treated chicken sausage.
FOOD DYE IN POMEGRANATE MOLASSES
Food dye was found in Vinsu brand pomegranate molasses belonging to the company Sena Gıda Temizlik Plastik İnşaat Sanayi, produced in the Akdeniz district of Mersin.
Additionally, in the same district, Şifa Bey brand Strained Flower Honey belonging to the company By Say Arıcılık was added to the list on the grounds of detected imitation or adulteration.
