General Directorate of Meteorology announces: Icing and snow warning issued

According to the forecasts of the General Directorate of Meteorology, the weather will be partly to very cloudy across the country. Precipitation is expected in the Aegean, the west of the Western Mediterranean, the east of the Western and Eastern Black Sea, the northeast of Eastern Anatolia, and the surroundings of Balıkesir. The precipitation, which is expected to be locally heavy in Rize and Artvin, will be in the form of rain and showers in the coastal Aegean, and sleet and snow in other regions.

While icing, frost, haze, and fog will be effective in the northern, inner, and eastern parts, there is an avalanche risk in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the high regions of Eastern Anatolia. Air temperatures are expected to rise by 3 to 5 degrees, reaching seasonal norms in the western parts. The wind will generally blow from southern directions, light and occasionally moderate in strength.

HEAVY PRECIPITATION

Caution should be exercised against potential negative consequences due to the heavy snowfall expected in Rize and Artvin.

AVALANCHE DANGER AND FROST EVENT

Avalanche risk is expected in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the east of Eastern Anatolia, while strong icing and frost are expected in the northern, inner, and eastern regions. Precautions must be taken.

MARMARA

It is estimated that it will be partly to very cloudy, with sleet and light snow expected in the surroundings of Balıkesir this evening. Icing and frost, along with haze and local fog, are expected during the night and morning hours.

AEGEAN

It is estimated that it will be partly to very cloudy, with precipitation expected in areas other than Afyonkarahisar and Kütahya this evening; precipitation is expected to be in the form of rain and showers in coastal areas, and sleet and snow in inner areas. Icing and frost, along with haze and local fog, are expected in the inner parts during the night and morning hours.

MEDITERRANEAN

It is estimated that it will be partly to slightly cloudy, with the west being very cloudy and the west of the Western Mediterranean experiencing rain. Icing and frost, along with haze and local fog, are expected in the inner parts during the morning and night hours.

CENTRAL ANATOLIA

It is estimated to be partly cloudy. Strong icing and frost, along with haze and local fog, are expected throughout the region.

WESTERN BLACK SEA

It is estimated that it will be partly to very cloudy, with sleet expected in the surroundings of Kastamonu and Sinop in the evening, and snow in the high parts. Strong icing and frost, along with haze and local fog, are expected during the night and morning hours.

CENTRAL and EASTERN BLACK SEA

It is estimated that it will be partly to very cloudy, with the coastal provinces of the Eastern Black Sea experiencing sleet and snow, which will be locally heavy in the surroundings of Rize and Artvin. Icing and frost are expected during the night and morning hours, being strong in the inner parts. There is an avalanche danger on the steep and sloping hillsides of the inner and high parts of the Eastern Black Sea.

EASTERN ANATOLIA

It is estimated that it will be partly to very cloudy, with intermittent snowfall expected in the northeast of the region and the northern and eastern surroundings of Van. Strong icing and frost, along with haze and local fog, are expected throughout the region. There is an avalanche danger on the steep and sloping hillsides in the east of the region.

SOUTHEASTERN ANATOLIA

It is estimated to be partly to slightly cloudy. Icing and frost, along with haze and local fog, are expected during the morning and night hours.
