He had given a supplementary statement: Mehmet Akif Ersoy responds to Nur Köşker's harassment allegations

Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who was arrested as part of a drug investigation, had recently applied to benefit from the effective remorse law.

Details of the supplementary statement Ersoy gave to the prosecutor's office, which lasted exactly 3 hours, have been reached. In his statement, Ersoy also responded to the harassment allegations made against him by former Habertürk presenter Nur Köşker.

Nur Köşker, who resigned and left Turkey after working as an on-screen face at Habertürk, had made highly discussed allegations against Mehmet Akif Ersoy.

Claiming that she was subjected to harassment by Ersoy for a long period, Köşker had said the following:

“There is a very long-term harassment process that started when I was married. You know, holding the elevator door and such. Then there are the nonsensical messages he sent.

Things like, 'Stand in front of the LED in the morning bulletin. Let me see your legs. They hid them behind the desk,' and so on. Can there be such an editor-in-chief? Finally, there is the real bombshell part. He threatened to take me off the screen by saying, 'You will sit at the desk and write news.'

I don't have any evidence regarding this place. If I had known he would say that, I would definitely have entered that room with a voice recorder. Afterwards, I said, 'I understand you. Let's resolve it this way. I will resign and leave,' and I just left like that.

Then I was unemployed for a year because of that idiot. I went through the most difficult period of my life. I mean, I had started there as a night presenter. Then they gave me the weekend main news. Mostly in the summer.

So, I had to resign at a time when I was at the peak of my career in my own view. Finally, I said, 'I guess it won't work out in this country,' and left the country. I changed continents because of that man.”

Responding to the harassment allegations against him, Mehmet Akif Ersoy claimed that Nur Köşker harbored hostility toward him because she was fired from the channel.

The part of Ersoy's supplementary statement regarding Nur Köşker is as follows:

”Nur Köşker was fired from the channel because she was acting inappropriately. That is why she harbors hostility toward us.

The elevators at Habertürk are recorded by cameras 24/7. Her statements are slander and baseless. I may have messaged her as a friend before I became editor-in-chief, but I never messaged her in any way after I became editor-in-chief.”

NUR KÖŞKER HAD EXPLAINED WHY SHE REMAINED SILENT

Köşker, in a statement she made last December, expressed why she had not spoken about the process until now with these words:

"Everyone asks why you stayed silent until now. First, I would like to clarify this.

First, I never felt safe. He was a dark, deep man who we saw never faced any consequences for whatever he did.

Second, I was married at that time. I had a family and a husband I needed to protect. It was impossible for me to tell anyone about this situation. Let's come to what happened.

There was a long-standing harassment process. As soon as he was appointed editor-in-chief, he started threatening to take me off the screen. Finally, because he said, 'Either it happens this way, or you will sit at the desk and write news,' I resigned and left the channel.

If I had known he would say that sentence to me that day, I would definitely have entered that room by starting the voice recording on my phone.

Afterwards, I told everyone, 'He wanted me to do editing and I didn't accept it. That's why I left the job.' When the matter became public knowledge outside of me, I slowly started to tell my close circle about this situation.

Can an Editor-in-Chief send a message at 5 in the morning saying, 'They hid your figure behind the desk, tell the director to move you in front of the LED'?" I am writing this with shame, because he himself was not ashamed. When he sent this message, I was wearing a skirt. That was the reason he wanted me to move in front of the LED."
