The drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues to remain on the agenda.
Following the arrest of former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, presenter Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, who tested positive for drugs, was also arrested and sent to prison.
During the examination of Cebeci's phone, her correspondence with Fenerbahçe President Sadettin Saran was leaked to the press.
Sadettin Saran, who gave a statement within the scope of the same investigation, was released under judicial control.
Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar noted that the scope of the ongoing drug investigation could expand.
Stating that every confession would bring new detention and arrest warrants, Tayyar also made a remarkable claim about Ela Rümeysa Cebeci.
Speaking on TGRT Haber, Şamil Tayyar said the following:
“Trust my word. Rümeysa Cebeci has become a whistleblower. She has agreed to hand over her entire archive to the prosecutor's office. She will likely be questioned again in the coming days, and after the new information she provides is verified, her release will be on the agenda.
There are important names in the information obtained so far, but there are no politicians. There are mostly people from the business and financial circles.”
Following Şamil Tayyar's claims, a statement was issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office denied the claim and stated that Ela Rümeysa Cebeci has not yet made any request to benefit from the provisions of effective remorse.
