The incident occurred on July 24 at approximately 13:30 in the Eski Hal area of the Bahçelievler neighborhood. Substance abuser Emir Can Zazaoğlu injured a person he had an argument with using a knife. While fleeing, Zazaoğlu attacked others in the vicinity with the knife. In the incident, which was also captured on security cameras, 9 people were injured, and health and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification.
The injured were taken to the Bahçelievler Family Health Center and Bingöl State Hospital. Despite the efforts of doctors, Burhanettin Budancamanak (75), Erdal Çaparlar (45), Fikri Carfi (52), and Özcan Aydın (55) could not be saved.
The other injured individuals were discharged after their treatment. Zazaoğlu was apprehended and taken into custody by police teams who launched an investigation into the incident. After his procedures at the police station, Zazaoğlu was referred to the courthouse, where he was arrested by the court and sent to prison.

The indictment, which includes the defendant's statement admitting to the crime, also features a report from the Adana Dr. Ekrem Tok Mental Health and Diseases Hospital stating that he is of sound mind. Furthermore, the document includes evidence, camera recordings, autopsy reports, and witness statements, noting that the defendant did not know the people he attacked and had no prior hostility toward them. The indictment requests that Zazaoğlu be sentenced to 4 counts of aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'killing with monstrous intent or by inflicting torture', and a total of 65 to 110 years in prison for the injury of 5 people.
