Hotel fire in Alanya: 622 tourists evacuated
A fire that broke out in the basement of a 5-star hotel in the Alanya district of Antalya caused great panic. In the hotel, where smoke filled the upper floors due to the fire believed to have started in the Turkish bath section, 622 stranded tourists were evacuated thanks to the timely intervention of firefighting teams. While 3 tourists were taken to the hospital, many people were affected by smoke inhalation.

The fire started at night in the basement of a 5-star hotel located on Atatürk Street in the Türkler neighborhood of Alanya. Hotel staff, who noticed the fire—which is suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault in the section containing washing and drying machines in the basement's Turkish bath and sauna area—reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Upon the report, numerous teams and ambulances from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department's Alanya unit, as well as from the Payallar, İncekum, Manavgat, and Gazipaşa fire stations, were dispatched to the area. The teams, who reached the scene in a short time, mobilized to rescue the tourists trapped on the upper floors due to the heavy smoke.
After approximately 1 hour of work, about 622 tourists inside were safely evacuated. While 3 tourists with asthma were transferred to the hospital after initial intervention at the scene, those affected by the smoke received first aid in ambulances stationed around the hotel.
INTERVENTION WITH 10 FIRE TRUCKS
Immediately after the fire broke out, the Alanya Fire Department teams affiliated with the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality intervened in the fire with a total of 10 fire trucks, 40 personnel, and a water tanker belonging to the Alanya Municipality.
AYRAN GIVEN TO THOSE AFFECTED BY SMOKE
Following the outbreak of the fire, fire crews and hotel staff ensured that the tourists left the hotel safely, while some hotel staff offered ayran to the tourists and personnel affected by the smoke.
After the evacuation, the fire crews split into 2 groups. While the first team carried out cooling work on the fire that broke out in the hotel's Turkish bath area, the other group checked the hotel rooms one by one to see if there was anyone else trapped inside.
Some of the tourists who were evacuated from the hotel but could not enter their rooms due to smoke and odor chose to wait on the sun loungers by the hotel pool. While some of the evacuated tourists were transferred to nearby hotels, others were taken to different hotels by minibus and bus.
It is suspected that the fire started due to an electrical fault in the section containing washing and drying machines in the Turkish bath and sauna area on the ground floor of the hotel.
