In the Menzil Community, founded in the village of Menzil in Adıyaman and known for its influence in politics and bureaucracy, an inheritance dispute has flared up following the death of their leader, Abdulhakim Erol, in 2023. As the internal strife within the order has spilled into the public eye, one of the brothers, Muhammed Saki Erol, has leveled harsh accusations against other family members.
''LUXURY LIFESTYLE, GUNS, HIGH SALARIES''
Muhammed Saki Erol, who uses the name "Sultan Sheikh Seyyid Muhammed Saki Elhüseyni," accused his brothers of misusing the money they collected. Erol stated, "Let me tell you where the money you collected went. Tables like those of Croesus, luxury A8 cars, guns at their waists, high salaries... And so much more."
Erol also touched upon the order's efforts to expand into the field of education, stating that he had opposed the idea of the community establishing a university while his father, Abdulhakim Erol, was still alive.
"I told my father, 'Father, it won't work like that. Classes cannot be separated by gender, the state will appoint administrators. Maybe communists will come and shout 'Down with Sharia,' and we won't be able to do anything,' and I barely managed to convince him," he said.
Muhammed Saki Erol alleged that the community leaders lead a life of luxury and are living in waste. "The Prophet would tie a stone to his stomach, a stone. But these people are picky about their food. 'No, I want stuffed lamb,' 'No, I want this or that'... How do I know? I saw it with my own eyes," he claimed, alleging that the order's leaders are being extravagant.
''THEY STOLE, I AM SPEAKING CLEARLY''
Making a sharp statement regarding the inheritance issue, Erol said, "They have been acting without Sharia for 15 months. They are consuming inheritance assets that I also have a right to, despite having no authority to dispose of them. They stole, look, I am speaking clearly."
Stating that he demanded an account from his brother Seyyid Galip, Erol expressed that the response he received was not satisfactory.
