The BIST 100 index, which rose to 9,953.91 points during the day, retreated sharply towards the evening hours and closed at 9,602.16 points with a loss of 2.79 percent. The daily loss was recorded as 2.09 percent.

While the banking index lost 1.74 percent and the holding index lost 1.18 percent, the largest decline on a sectoral basis was seen in the mining sector with 5.43 percent.

The only winner was the financial leasing and factoring sector with 4.20 percent.

Following the sharp decline in the stock market, the Capital Markets Board (CMB) announced that it had launched an investigation into unusual price movements.

In its statement, the CMB stated that legal proceedings have been initiated against those who produce intentional and misleading news and those who disseminate this news. It was reported that Borsa Istanbul and the CMB are scrutinizing all transactions.
